Business Opportunities

Buildworks Canada
The Electronic Plan Room (EPR) has been developed by the construction industry through the co-operative efforts of the local construction associations across Alberta, and Saskatchewan. As a member of RDCA you can access information on any project that’s on-line. You can view plans, specifications, addendums, bidders lists, pre-bid notices of projects and bid results. There is so much information right at your finger tips. You can save time and money by viewing projects on-line. Over 5,000 projects are posted yearly.

 

Networking
RDCA organizes several social events annually. These events provide your firm with an opportunity to meet and socialize with fellow members – contractors, suppliers, owners, architects and engineers. The following is an outline of our calendar of events:

Business Seminars, and Lunch & Learns
The RDCA offers a number of opportunities for our members to learn from the experts. Many of our associate members present regularly on topics such as financial, HR, legal, succession, tendering process and much more.

Association Newsletters
RDCA keeps you informed on the activities relating to your Industry. This information is communicated to you through our e-newsletter and is disseminated to member firms twice every month. There are also a number of advertising opportunities available.

Central Alberta Builder
The official publication of the Red Deer Construction Association is distributed to over 2,000 businesses, and municipal offices across Alberta. This all inclusive look at what is happening in Commercial construction in Central Alberta offers member profiles, business listings and advertising opportunities.

Advocacy

The Red Deer Construction Association (RDCA) is dedicated to providing effective representation and quality services to its member firms who are General Contractors, Trade Contractors, Manufacturers and Suppliers of goods and services to the Industry. RDCA provides a strong collective voice to Government and specifically monitors Municipal Government activities on a continuing basis maintaining the lines of communication with key municipal departments.

Provincial Representation
Membership with RDCA provides your firm with an automatic membership with the Alberta Construction Association (ACA).

The ACA was created to facilitate joint action at the provincial level on behalf of it’s members. The ACA also serves the industry in responding to national issues through membership in the Canadian Construction Association. ACA leads Alberta’s construction industry through government advocacy, industry practices (trade definitions, prompt payment, WCB-Safety, ACA guides and contracts), and promotion of skilled workforce.

National Representation
Membership with RDCA also provides your firm with an automatic membership with the Canadian Construction Association (CCA). CCA acts as your liaison with the Federal Government of Canada.

Education and Safety

Safety
Safety continues to evolve within our industry and we understand the importance of keeping your staff trained and informed with the latest regulations. Our partnership with the ACSA remains strong and we continue to be one of the leaders in the province when it comes to holding classes.  The RDCA is also an active participant in the Parkland Regional Safety Committee (PRSC).  This team of local safety professionals promote and support safety within the Central Alberta region.

Construction Series Education – Gold Seal Certification
The Gold Seal Accreditation across the country is becoming more recognized as the standard among our industry. At the RDCA, we offer a number of Gold Seal courses each year in Estimating, Construction Law, Project Planning,  Construction 101 and many more. 

RDCA Apprentice Scholarships
The RDCA is proud to have awarded scholarships to member company apprentices since 2004. Our application process opens up in May of each year and closes in August.

Customer Service

Contract Documents
These Documents (CCDC) are for sale to both member and non-member firms; however, member firms can purchase their documents at preferential prices.

Commissioner of Oath
RDCA staff are is authorized by the Province of Alberta as Commissioners of Oath. As many of your documents feature this requirement, member firms may obtain this service through our office free of charge.

Blueprint Copier
A blueprint copier is available for use at a reduced cost for members.  We offer a variety of size copies including scans.

Classroom/Meeting Room Rental
We have 2 class rooms available for rent. One will seat up to 16 and the other seats up to 30. Each room includes audio/visual with state of the art electronics, and coffee included.
